Only Angels Have Wings (1939)

Columbia
Director: Howard Hawks
Cast: Cary Grant, Jean Arthur, Richard Barthelmess, Rita Hayworth, Thomas Mitchell

This film directed by Howard Hawks was another box office hit for Cary Grant in 1939. He costarred for the first time with Jean Arthur. It was not a comedy but an adventure film set in the Andes of South America. Grant played Jeff Carter, a tough American boss of a small air mail carrier company. Dangerous weather adds complication for the air missions over the mountains. Jean Arthur is the love interest as is a young Rita Hayworth, playing the wife of one of the pilots. Her name is Judy McPherson. This could be the source of the famous imitated Cary Grant line, "Judy, Judy, Judy." It is a great Howard Hawks film.
