Night And Day (1946)

WB
Director: Michael Curtiz
Cast: Cary Grant, Alexis Smith, Monty Woolley, Ginny Simms, Jane Wyman, Eve Arden, Alan Hale, Dorothy Malone, Mary Martin

Night And Day was a bio on the life and early career of Cole Porter. Mr. Porter himself had chosen Cary Grant to portray him in this musical film. Warner Brothers paid Grant $150,000 for his services; it was Grant's first film in Technicolor. Grant relied on his charm and sophistication to carry the film and the character of Cole Porter. He even got to sing "Miss Otis Regrets" with Monty Woolley, and "You're the Top" with singer Ginny Simms. Alexis Smith played Porter's wife, who is brushed aside because of his fame. Grant did not care for tyrant director Michael Curtiz, but the film was a box office hit for Warner Brothers.
